About the artist
John Valentine Prytko (born 25 September 1936 in New Britain, Connecticut; died 1 April 2020, aged 83) was a Connecticut polka bandleader, accordionist and broadcaster, the son of Polish-American immigrants. He led Johnny Prytko and the Connecticut Hi-Tones and later Johnny Prytko's Good Times Polka Band, which played the East Coast and Canada for fifty years; he taught accordion and guitar across a thirty-three-year career as a music teacher and presented a Saturday-morning polka programme on WWUH radio for three decades, and his sons played and recorded in his band.
