About the artist
Jerry Clayton (born Jerry Washabaugh) was an American rock and roll and country singer, the youngest of eight children of a musical family that lived at New Salem, Pennsylvania, some forty miles south of Pittsburgh. He served in the United States Navy, and after his eldest brother Ivan moved to Bedford, Ohio in 1959 the family followed him to the Cleveland area, where Clayton recorded with his brothers Ivan and Clayton Washabaugh, his sister Lillian and her husband Charlie Williams, latterly as Jerry Clayton and the Country Squires; he was known locally as a striking Elvis Presley…
