Annotation
Sixto Rodriquez was born on 10 July 1942, in Detroit, Michigan. Both his parents immigrated from Mexico, his father in the 1920s. He often sung about political and economic issues affecting inner city poor, and the marginalisation that Mexican-Americans faced. (1) The 1970 song "Establishment Blues" (Sussex Records # SXBS 7000) contained a reference to draft inequality and war in Asia: "the little man gets shafted, sons and monies drafted, living by a time piece, new war in the Far East". The 2012 film Searching for Sugar Man documented his career.
