About the artist
Wesley Houston - described in the Smithsonian Folkways liner notes as "a New Yorker" - wrote and performed "Elijah Good", his first recording as a songwriter, on "Broadside Ballads, Vol. 5: Time Is Running Out" (Folkways FW05312, 1970): a narrative folk-protest piece about a man born in 1945 and paralysed by a combat wound in Vietnam.
