Prominent West Coast Hip Hop / Gangsta Rap group, one of the earliest and most influential of the genre, formed in 1986 in Compton, California, USA, featuring Eazy-E (MC), Yella (DJ, producer), Dr. Dre (producer, MC), Ice Cube (MC, 1986-89), Arabian Prince (MC, 1986-88), and MC Ren (MC, 1988-91). Note that Dr. Dre also released the song "Rat-Tat-Tat-Tat" (1992) which referenced Vietnam, as did Ice Cube, with the songs "How to Survive in South Central" (1991) and "Sasquatch".The song "The Dayz of Wayback" (Priority Records # SL 57126) contained a minor reference to the Vietnam War, used to compare to city and community violence: "Compton was like still water... now it's like muthafuckin' Vietnam, everybody killin'".
