Annotation — McGuire's "Eve of Destruction" & Answer Songs
On this record Buddy Starcher covered the track "Day of Decision" (Decca Records # 31975), originally released by Johnny Sea (Day of Decision) - an answer record to Barry McGuire's Eve of Destruction. Decca promoted the single heavily, taking a full-page advert in Billboard on 28 May 1966, seeking to build on the success of his charting single "History Repeats Itself". (1) But unlike the Johnny Sea version, this single failed to chart.
