The song "Christmas in Vietnam" (Songbird Records # 1187), released in 1967 by the Soul Searchers, is fairly similar to the Johnny and Jon track. Written by A. Pointer, this gospel / soul song starts with a talking intro, telling the listener that "a lonely soldier laid dying in a foxhole in Vietnam". Thinking about Christmas back home in the US, the soldiers start singing - group harmonies enter at this point, moaning "jingle bells". Released in Houston, Texas on Don D.
