Annotation
The song "Bury the Hatchet" (Bold # 1006) took an anti-war stance. The narrator said that it was time to "shake hands" and that the country needed to "make peace today". He described the conflict as a "cruel war" and wondered "how long" it would last. It was sung by Rockin' Sidney - born Sidney J. Simien, in Louisianna, in 1938, he also went under the name Count Rockin' Sidney. Many of his songs fitted into the Zydeco genre of southwest Louisiana that mixed R&B with jazz and blues, often using an accordion.
