Johnny Travis (real name Elroy Newton, born 24 April 1942 in Baird, Texas; died 28 December 2001) was a Texas country guitarist, songwriter and music-business figure based in Lubbock, a member of the Country Music Association and the founder and producer of the West Texas 'Roots' Musical; he also recorded as Roy Newton and the Newtones and wrote the local standard 'Lucky Me I Live in Lubbock'. He issued some fifteen records across three albums and twelve singles.
