Gilberto Perez, Mexican-American artist born in Mercedes, Texas, USA on 3 August 1935. The track "A la guerra ya me llevan" (They Take Me to War) (Falcon # 1408) also featured on the Vietnam War compilation Porque estamos en Vietnam (Bronco # BRLP-043). Narrated from the soldier's perspective, it expressed opposition to being drafted to go to the war, leaning towards the anti-war side: "they're taking me against my will". As above.

About the artist
Gilberto Perez, Tejano conjunto accordionist and vocalist, born 3 August 1935 in Mercedes, Texas (Rio Grande Valley), youngest of twelve children; founded Gilberto Perez y Sus Compadres in 1959, recording for Discos Falcon from November 1959 ('El Dia De Tu Boda') and becoming one of the enduring heavyweights of the conjunto genre.
