Canzoniere delle Lame was an Italian political-folk collective founded 1 May 1967 in the Lame neighborhood of Bologna (now part of Quartiere Navile) by Janna Carioli and Gianfranco Ginestri, drawing students, teachers and workers 'politically committed' to the Italian left, operating out of a neighborhood community center. Early members included organizer Alba Arnofoli and singer/guitarist Bruno Cuppi. The group was active 1967-1987 (peak activity 1970-1980), recorded roughly 33 albums, and performed over 1,000 concerts in Italy, across Europe, in Cuba and aboard Soviet cruise ships, sharing stages with internationally known protest musicians. Their song 'Liberiamo il Sud Vietnam' ('Let's Liberate South Vietnam') dates to 1972 and was issued via FGCI (Federazione Giovanile Comunista Italiana, the Italian Communist Youth Federation), included in the collection 'La gioventu del mondo e a fianco del Vietnam.'
