Annotation
Bluegrass, satire group, formed in Austin, Texas, USA in 1980. The song "Ballad of Ronald Reagan" ( Watermelon Records # 1001-LP) ran through the history of Ronald Reagan , from Hollywood to the Californian Governorship in the 60s, his opposition to student Vietnam War protests, the presidential election, onto Iran, Nicaragua and the economy. It concluded by declaring that Reagan was not as bad as Richard Nixon . "They tell me that he came from Illinois / They said he was the all American boy / Then he went up to Hollywood to make himself a name / And he went onto minor motion picture fame / They called him Ronald, Ronald Reagan / He starred in movies with a chimpanzee... / He coasted to the Californian governorship... / If it took a blood bath to stop student unrest then that was what the ungrateful little bastards would get.... / The Democrats...said that Ronald would drop the bomb / While imitating John Wayne... / The military budget grew obese... / He supported South Africa / Sold missiles to Iran / A strategic initiate to kill his fellow man / The lobbyists are counting their loot... / He'll balance the budget in a billion years or so... / He's our good old president... / But if he wants Nicaragua he can go to hell... / His policies are a curse, but at least he's not Nixon, he's even worse"
